Arrest Ordered for Alleged Beller-Shooting Coordinator, Ex-Customs Chief With Prior Drug Conviction

Santa Cruz prosecutors ordered the arrest of María Argentina Rojas Roca as an alleged accomplice in the Aug 17 attempted murder of Nadia Beller, accusing her of meeting with and transferring money to the men identified as the gunmen. Rojas Roca is a former head of Customs at Santa Cruz's Viru Viru airport despite a prior drug-trafficking conviction and deportation from Brazil in January 2021; Beller has linked her to Alberto Soto, a former Customs chief she also identifies as part of Fernando Cerimedo's circle. The order widened the criminal case beyond Cerimedo, who remains jailed, and the two men already charged as accomplices.
