Gigafactory Malaysia Launches First Domestically-Developed EV Battery Production in ASEAN

Gigafactory Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NanoMalaysia Bhd, is launching small-scale EV and energy-storage battery production using proprietary "graphite-enhanced" lithium-ion technology developed in-house at a cost of MYR 20 million (~US$5M). The 1,500 sq m facility sits in the Suria Industrial Park, Sepang, Selangor. Company leadership calls it Malaysia's first local battery technology production facility and likely the first of its kind in the ASEAN region, as no other Southeast Asian country currently produces batteries from homegrown technology at this scale.
