Moment Energy Opens What It Calls World's Largest Second-Life EV Battery Factory

| Battery Revolution

Moment Energy held a ribbon-cutting on June 23, 2026 for Megafactory 1 in Vancouver, British Columbia — a facility the company describes as the world's largest second-life EV battery factory. Rather than manufacturing new cells, the plant repurposes retired EV batteries into commercial-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) for data centers, hospitals, factories, and microgrids, targeting 1 GWh of annual BESS capacity by 2030. The company's CEO noted the speed of deployment: the project was announced only six weeks before becoming operational. The facility is expected to create 100+ direct jobs and 1,000+ indirect jobs across British Columbia.
