Mass Marches in Defense of INE Electoral Authority

The first major opposition march in defense of the INE (National Electoral Institute) took place in Mexico City and over 20 cities nationwide on November 13, 2022. Civil society and opposition parties organized the nonpartisan march; sole speaker was former IFE president José Woldenberg. Protesters wore white. The march responded to AMLO's legislative push — 'Plan B' — to gut the INE budget and limit its enforcement powers. Two weeks later, on November 27, AMLO held a counter-march marking four years in office, with approximately one million supporters walking down Reforma Avenue.
