AIFA Felipe Ángeles Airport Inaugurated
The Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) was officially inaugurated by AMLO in Zumpango, Estado de México, built by the Army in 886 days. The first commercial flight was operated by VivaAerobús from Guadalajara; the first international flight was Conviasa to Caracas. The airport was built at an officially stated cost of 74.53 billion pesos (~$4B), though El Universal reported over 115.98 billion pesos (~$6.2B) when subsequent allocations were included. Three weeks post-inauguration, AIFA was still under construction with only partial ground transport links to Mexico City. Total passengers in 2022 reached 876,000.
