OCHA: Over 10.7 Million Afghan Women and Girls Need Humanitarian Assistance

| Afghanistan War

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said on July 14, 2026 that more than 10.7 million women and girls in Afghanistan need humanitarian assistance in 2026. Taliban restrictions on women's movement, education, and employment continue to limit access to services and deepen vulnerabilities; maternal mortality remains among the world's highest (638 deaths per 100,000 live births per 2024 data), worsened by a shortage of female health workers and funding cuts.
