Supreme Court Upholds State Bans on Transgender Athletes in Girls' School Sports

In consolidated cases West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox, the Court ruled 6-3 (opinion by Justice Kavanaugh) that state laws restricting girls'/women's school sports teams to biological females do not violate the Equal Protection Clause; the Court was unanimous that the laws don't violate Title IX. Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson dissented on the constitutional question.
