Supreme Court Upholds Birthright Citizenship, Strikes Down Trump Executive Order

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in Trump v. Barbara that the 14th Amendment's Citizenship Clause guarantees automatic birthright citizenship to children born in the US regardless of parents' immigration status, striking down Trump's Executive Order 14160. Chief Justice Roberts wrote the majority opinion, joined by Barrett, Kavanaugh, Sotomayor, Jackson, and Kagan, affirming the 1898 Wong Kim Ark precedent. Justices Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissented.
