Ukraine Strikes TANECO Oil Refinery in Tatarstan, 1,200km From the Border

| Ukraine

Ukraine's Defense Forces struck the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Republic of Tatarstan, at around 3:22 a.m. on September 13, with a fire reported in one of the facility's storage tanks. The refinery, roughly 1,200 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, is one of Russia's largest and most advanced, with an annual processing capacity exceeding 16 million tonnes. Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation said the plant plays a key role fueling the Russian military, and that strikes on refineries and oil depots directly reduce Russia's capacity to sustain the war. The General Staff separately confirmed additional strikes the same night on Russian oil refining infrastructure in the Kuban region.
