Russia Bombards 9 Ukrainian Cities Overnight; 2 Killed, 14+ Wounded

Russia launched a 'massive' overnight combined strike on nine Ukrainian cities using ballistic missiles (Iskander-M/KN-23), Onyx anti-ship missiles, S-8000 Banderol strike drones, and roughly 258 Shahed-type/decoy drones, with the barrage running from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, August 27. Ukraine's Air Force said it shot down or suppressed 1 Onyx missile, 7 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, 3 Banderol drones, and 222 of the attack drones. Four districts of Kyiv were hit, damaging a sports complex in Pecherskyi district, an educational facility in Shevchenkivskyi district, a medical facility, and sparking a vehicle fire in Holosiivskyi district; no fatalities were reported in the capital. Elsewhere, a 78-year-old woman was killed in Zaporizhzhia region and one person was killed in Kherson region, with at least 14 people wounded nationwide. Russian drones destroyed toy-store and confectionery distribution warehouses in Kyiv region, four glide bombs knocked out generating equipment at Kherson's combined heat and power plant, and Odesa was attacked for over 7 hours, damaging a 16-story residential building, two schools, and a grain elevator.
