Deadliest Russian Strike on Kyiv This Year Kills 17 as Air Defenses Fail to Intercept a Single Ballistic Missile

| Ukraine

Russia launched 24 ballistic missiles, 4 Zircon/Onyx hypersonic missiles, and 115 Shahed-type drones at Kyiv and its suburbs overnight — none of the ballistic missiles were intercepted. At least 17 people were killed, including 8 at a railway station in Brovary (15 miles east of Kyiv) and 3 at a Nova Poshta logistics center in Kyiv, which was destroyed. Commercial distribution centers for Silpo and Rozetka also suffered heavy damage with employee casualties. UN Secretary-General António Guterres called it 'a clear violation' of international law and condemned it as the deadliest attack on Kyiv this year. The strike came amid a UN report that July 2026 was the deadliest month for Ukrainian civilians since April 2022.
