Russia Launches Largest Ballistic Missile Attack on Kyiv Since Start of War
Russia fired 41 ballistic missiles at Kyiv overnight — the largest single ballistic-missile barrage on the capital since the February 2022 invasion — alongside 125 Shahed-type drones. Ukrainian air defense intercepted roughly half the ballistic missiles and 108 of the 125 drones. Zelensky reported at least one death and 16 wounded in Kyiv; across Ukraine the nationwide toll reached at least 12 dead, including four in Kharkiv and a teenager in Odesa, with additional casualties in Donetsk, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, and Sumy oblasts. Residential buildings, offices, industrial facilities, and a dormitory were damaged; Russia claimed to have targeted Odesa port facilities. The attack underscored Ukraine's mounting shortage of Patriot interceptor missiles.
