Russian Strikes Kill 3, Hit 17 Settlements in Kharkiv Region — Day 1,560
On June 3, 2026 (Day 1,560), Russian forces attacked Kharkiv city and 17 other settlements across Kharkiv Oblast with drone strikes. A Russian drone struck a multi-story residential building in Kharkiv, causing a fire. Three civilians were killed across the region, and 19 people were wounded in residential areas over the two-day period June 2–3. The Kharkiv region has faced sustained Russian strikes throughout the war given its proximity to the Russian border (~40 km from Kharkiv city to the Russian frontier). Russia's cross-border drone and rocket attacks on Kharkiv Oblast continued unabated through late May and early June 2026 as Russia maintained pressure on Ukraine's second-largest city. The front line in Kharkiv Oblast has remained relatively stable since Russia's failed attempt to capture Kharkiv in spring 2024, but cross-border fire has been constant.
