| Ukraine

Ukraine's General Staff reported on June 2, 2026 (Day 1,559) that Russia's cumulative military personnel losses reached approximately 1,366,910 killed and wounded — an increase of approximately 1,440 in the previous 24-hour period. Additionally, 1,583 Russian drones were destroyed. A total of 178 combat engagements were recorded across the front line, a decrease from the 253 recorded on May 31 but reflecting sustained high-intensity combat. The Pokrovsk direction (Donetsk Oblast) remained the hottest sector with 36 Russian assault attempts repelled. Russia captured Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad in early 2026 but has made little significant advance west of those positions since December 2025. The Russian spring-summer 2026 offensive has largely stalled; Russian forces gained far less territory in May 2026 compared to previous months. According to ISW analysis, Russia's average daily territorial advance remained at ~2.9 sq km/day in May 2026 — sustaining catastrophic casualties for diminishing tactical gains.
