WFP Confirms Russian Iskander Missile Destroyed $1.4M Food Aid Warehouse in Dnipro — 130,000 People Affected; Second Strike on Same Facility
The UN World Food Programme (WFP) confirmed on May 26, 2026 that a Russian Iskander-M ballistic missile had struck and destroyed its warehouse in Dnipro, eliminating $1.4 million worth of food aid intended to feed 130,000 people near the front line. This was the second time the same facility was hit — a drone previously struck it in November 2025. WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain called the strike 'Absolutely unacceptable.' Over 84 WFP-related incidents have been recorded in Ukraine in the past 18 months. The attack was part of a documented Russian pattern of targeting UN-marked humanitarian facilities, food distribution infrastructure, and supply convoys. Strikes on protected humanitarian assets constitute a war crime under Additional Protocol I of the Geneva Conventions. The Dnipro warehouse served communities near the contact line in Donetsk Oblast.
