Russian Overnight Barrage Kills 8 Across Kharkiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk Regions

Russia launched a huge overnight barrage into September 19 involving 174 drones from Russia and occupied Crimea alongside two Zircon antiship missiles fired from Kursk region; Ukrainian air defenses intercepted or jammed 141 targets and the Zircons did not reach their targets. Kharkiv Oblast bore the worst of it: 14 settlements were attacked, killing 5 and injuring 15, with the towns of Balakliya and Lypkuvativka heavily damaged — a follow-up missile strike on Balakliya injured a 14-year-old boy and damaged five homes, two shops and an administrative building, prompting a declared day of mourning for those killed in the town's Sept. 18 drone strike. Kherson Oblast saw 25 communities shelled, killing 3 and injuring 5, with damage to apartments, homes, a cell tower and a gas pipeline. Dnipropetrovsk Oblast recorded 10+ drone, artillery and aerial-bomb attacks, injuring 2 and damaging warehouses, a clinic and a shopping center. Poland scrambled fighter jets and raised its ground-based air defense and radar systems to highest readiness in response to the Russian drone activity near its border, with no airspace violation recorded.
