Ukrainian Drones Strike Russian Defense and Petrochemical Plants in Bashkortostan, 1,300 km From Ukraine
Ukrainian FP-1 drones struck the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant and the Avangard Federal State Enterprise in Bashkortostan's Sterlitamak on the morning of September 4 — a facility more than 1,300 km from Ukraine. The petrochemical plant produces aviation fuel and materials used by Russia's defense industry and has now been struck at least three times since November 2025; Avangard is a sanctioned Russian military-industrial enterprise manufacturing explosives, ammunition, and containers under state defense orders. The strike triggered a fire and an evacuation of staff; local Telegram channels reported the attack while Bashkortostan authorities acknowledged a drone strike on the industrial zone without initially naming the facilities hit.
