On May 29, 2026 — Day 1,555 of Russia's full-scale invasion — Ukraine's General Staff reported that Russian forces escalated significantly, launching 267 combat attacks across all front sectors — up from 189 on May 28. Russia also dropped 269 guided aerial bombs (KABs — glide bomb munitions launched from aircraft at stand-off range) in a single day. Additionally, Russian forces deployed 7,881 kamikaze drones and conducted 2,806 total strikes including 77 from multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS). The Pokrovsk and Huliaipole sectors faced the heaviest fighting. In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian assaults continued near Vilne, Novyi Donbas, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Shevchenko, Pokrovsk, Bilytske, Hryshyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Filiia, and Novopavlivka. The Huliaipole sector saw intense fighting near Myrne, Dobropillia, Vozdvyzhivka, Hirke, Zaliznychne, Huliaipilske, Rybne, Tsvitkove, Staroukrainka, Verkhnia Tersa, and Charivne. Despite the aerial terror campaign of May 23–28, Russian frontline advance rates remain below 2025 averages; Russia's net territorial loss in April 2026 of 116 sq km represents its worst monthly performance of the 2026 campaign.
