Russian Drone Strikes Kill 1, Injure 6 in Kherson; Medical Vaccination Bus Destroyed Near Dnipro
Russian forces conducted drone strikes on Kherson and surrounding areas throughout April 30, 2026, killing 1 person and injuring 6 others. Kherson has remained under persistent Russian drone and artillery attack since Ukrainian forces liberated the right-bank city in November 2022, with Russian forces continuing to occupy the opposite bank of the Dnipro River. Separately, a Ukrainian Ministry of Health vaccination bus was destroyed in a Russian drone strike in the suburbs of Dnipro — a deliberate attack on humanitarian infrastructure. Russian drones also struck Mykolaiv. Nikopol was under heavy fire. The attacks occurred on the same day as Trump's 90-minute phone call with Putin, during which the two discussed a possible short Victory Day ceasefire — a proposal Ukraine rejected, calling instead for a comprehensive long-term ceasefire. Ukrainian air defenses engaged incoming drones but Russian strikes penetrated coverage across multiple cities in southern Ukraine.
