Russia Strikes Odesa Residential Buildings and Chornomorsk Port: 11 Injured, ~6,000-Ton Sunflower Oil Spill in Black Sea
Russian drones struck Ukraine's Black Sea coast in the early hours of April 27. In Odesa, drones hit high-rise residential buildings and a hotel, injuring 11 people including 2 children. In Chornomorsk — a port city 30 km southwest of Odesa — Russian drones struck seaport infrastructure including a storage tank, triggering a massive sunflower oil spill of approximately 6,000 tons into the Black Sea, creating a serious environmental hazard for the region's marine ecosystem. A driver was also killed in a separate drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant region. Ukrainian air defenses engaged incoming drones but multiple penetrated coverage. The Ukrainian MoD reported 810 additional Russian personnel losses on April 27, bringing cumulative Russian losses to approximately 1,326,460 since February 24, 2022 — including 26 artillery systems, 16 armored vehicles, and 179 UAVs in the past 24 hours.
