Russian Drone-Missile Strike on Odesa Kills Elderly Couple, Hits Merchant Ship

Russia launched a mass overnight attack on Odesa, firing 107 Shahed-type loitering drones and 2 ballistic missiles. Ukrainian air defenses destroyed or jammed 96 drones, but 10 drones and both ballistic missiles struck targets. A 75-year-old married couple was killed in a residential building hit, and at least 15 people were injured (8 hospitalized). Three residential buildings caught fire and 36 residents including 2 children were evacuated. A Saint Kitts and Nevis-flagged bulk carrier was struck in the Black Sea shipping corridor near Odesa; all 22 crew survived. The attack follows Russia's sustained campaign of mass drone barrages against Ukrainian port cities.
