Russia Launches 442 Drones and 1 Missile Overnight; 4 Killed Including Strike on Ozernoye Airbase
Russia launched 442 drones and 1 missile against Ukraine overnight on March 28–29, 2026 — the largest single-night drone barrage of the week. Ukraine's Air Force shot down 380 UAVs; 62 penetrated defenses. Odesa was struck again, killing 2 and wounding 13, with port infrastructure hit. One man was killed in a strike on an industrial site in Kryvyi Rih and one person was killed in Poltava region when a residential building and industrial facilities were hit. Ozernoye Airbase in Zhytomyr region was struck by at least 7 Geran-2 (Shahed-136) kamikaze UAVs — the base serves combined combat aviation and personnel training. President Zelensky described the attack as 'pure terror against ordinary civilian life — there was no military purpose whatsoever.' Over the preceding week, Russia fired approximately 3,000 attack drones — nearly double the March weekly average of 1,500–1,750 — alongside 1,450+ guided aerial bombs and 40 missiles of various types.
