Ukraine's power generation capacity has collapsed from 33.7 GW at the start of the invasion to just 14 GW as of January 2026 — a 58% reduction. Systematic Russian targeting of energy infrastructure has degraded civilian capacity severely. Russia's drone capabilities have also escalated dramatically, with December 2025 drone launches tripling compared to December 2024. New Molniya-2 Starlink-enabled drones are extending attack ranges beyond 230 km.
