Board of Immigration Appeals Makes It Easier to Deport DACA Recipients
The Justice Department's Board of Immigration Appeals issued a precedent decision making it easier to deport individuals with DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) status. The ruling holds that being a DACA recipient alone is no longer sufficient basis for deportation relief — immigration courts may now more readily order removal for DACA holders. The decision represents a significant escalation in the Trump administration's efforts to end DACA protections, and comes one day after the DC Circuit struck down the administration's asylum ban at the southern border.
