CMAC: Thai Forces Struck 501 Targets Across More Than 560 Areas of Preah Vihear Temple

The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) released its own survey findings on damage to Preah Vihear temple, following up on the September 9 UNESCO-ICOMOS report. CMAC Director General Heng Ratana said the assessment found Thai forces struck 501 specific targets across the temple, with damage recorded at more than 560 locations, using 105mm and 155mm artillery -- including cluster munitions -- as well as drone strikes and mortar fire. He said the pattern of strikes showed 'clear strategic planning, tactics, coordination, and command and control' consistent with intent to destroy the site, calling it 'the most severe destruction and damage inflicted on Preah Vihear Temple, the heritage of Khmer ancestors,' and voiced hope that those responsible would face accountability under international law.
