PLA Sorties Fall to 2, No Median Line Crossing Reported; Ship Presence Eases

| Taiwan Strait

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense detected 2 PLA aircraft sorties, 7 PLAN vessels and 2 official ships operating around Taiwan in the 24-hour window ending 06:00 (UTC+8) on August 24, 2026 — down from 3 sorties on each of the two prior days. Unlike August 22-23, when all detected sorties crossed the Taiwan Strait median line into the northern and southwestern ADIZ sectors, the August 24 report did not identify any median-line crossings or ADIZ sector entries, and no flight-path illustration was published. The official-ship count also eased to 2, down from 7 the previous day. ROC Armed Forces said they continued to monitor the situation with combat air patrol aircraft, naval ships and coastal missile systems.
