PLA ADIZ Incursion Spikes to 14 Sorties, 11 Crossing Median Line — Largest Since Mid-July

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense tracked 14 PLA aircraft sorties, 6 PLAN vessels and 8 official ships operating around Taiwan in the 24-hour window ending 06:00 (UTC+8) on August 8, 2026. Of the 14 sorties, 11 crossed the Taiwan Strait median line and entered Taiwan's northern and southwestern ADIZ sectors — the largest single-day sortie count since the July 30 spike (12 sorties, 10 crossing) and occurring on day three of Taiwan's Han Kuang 42 live-fire exercise (Aug 5-14). Taiwan deployed combat air patrol aircraft, naval vessels and coastal missile systems in response.
