Israeli Drone Strikes Truck Near Beit Jinn, Damascus Countryside
An Israeli drone struck a civilian truck on the road near Beit Jinn, a town in the Damascus countryside near Mount Hermon and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, on August 22, 2026, wounding the driver. The IDF said it targeted 'a terrorist who advanced terror attacks in their final stages of preparation' whose activity 'posed an immediate threat to our forces' in southern Syria. Syria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the strike on what it called a civilian vehicle as a 'flagrant violation of sovereignty' and a 'blatant breach of international law,' part of a pattern of repeated Israeli strikes on Syrian territory. The strike came four days after Israel's airstrikes on the Abu al-Duhur airbase in Idlib.
