Israeli Forces Raid Quneitra Villages, Ransack Homes and Shell Agricultural Land

Israeli military forces conducted a series of incursions into villages in Quneitra governorate in southern Syria. Four Israeli military vehicles entered the village of Saida al-Hanout, where soldiers broke into and ransacked homes. Three Israeli battle tanks were also briefly deployed near the village of al-Ma'alaqah before withdrawing. Israeli warplanes conducted heavy surveillance flights over the entire Quneitra governorate throughout the day. A separate Israeli patrol entered the towns of Jubata al-Khashab and Taranja, establishing a temporary checkpoint. Artillery shells were fired near Taranja, hitting agricultural land; no casualties were reported. Syria's transitional government condemned the incursions as violations of Syrian sovereignty. The activity represents a continuation of Israeli military expansion into southern Syria following December 2024's regime collapse, during which Israel established a buffer zone beyond the 1974 ceasefire line. Earlier Israeli strikes on May 2 had targeted Syrian military infrastructure across multiple provinces in response to Druze-government clashes.
