Israel Launches 20+ Airstrikes Across Syria Including Near Presidential Palace

The IDF conducted at least 20 airstrikes on Syrian military sites on May 2, striking targets in Damascus (including near the presidential palace), Latakia, Hama, Daraa, and the Quneitra countryside. Israeli artillery also shelled sites in Quneitra, warning Syrian military forces to halt operations against the Druze community. One person was killed in Harasta, a Damascus suburb, and four were injured in Hama. The strikes represented one of the most extensive Israeli military operations in Syria since the massive post-Assad bombing campaign in December 2024. Syria's transitional government protested the strikes as violations of sovereignty.
