Serian API Returns to Hazardous 302, Hours After Malaysia Lifted Haze Emergency
Air quality at Sarawak's Serian district police headquarters monitoring station spiked back to a hazardous API of 302 as of 9am on Sept 8 — the only hazardous reading recorded nationwide — just a day after Malaysia's King consented to lift Serian's state of emergency on Sept 7. Kuching (249), Sri Aman (235) and Samarahan (233) registered 'very unhealthy' readings, while six other Sarawak areas — Mukah (184), Sarikei (183), Samalaju (178), Bintulu (170), ILP Miri (169) and Miri (165) — stayed 'unhealthy'. Haze also pushed six Selangor areas and four in Perak into unhealthy territory, alongside readings in Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Labuan; nationwide, 36 areas registered moderate air quality and two recorded good readings.
