SAF Recaptures Al-Jamama Commercial Hub Northeast of Sodari, North Kordofan

Sudanese army and allied forces recaptured the al-Jamama area northeast of Sodari city, North Kordofan state, from the Rapid Support Forces on September 19, 2026, according to military sources. Al-Jamama is a commercial hub sitting on the route linking El Obeid, the state capital, with Al-Dabbah in Northern State; the RSF had held the area and used it, alongside positions west and northwest of Sodari, to threaten a major export road since early in the conflict. The capture follows the army's September 17 announcement that it had retaken 11 other areas in western North Kordofan bordering Sodari, Umm Badr and Hamrat al-Sheikh, and is part of a broader push that has, since late July, seen the army retake Bara, Jabra al-Sheikh and Umm Sayala and secure the Bara-Omdurman road. The RSF did not immediately comment on the al-Jamama claim.
