RSF Drone Strike Kills at Least 12 at Umm Ruwaba Courthouse, North Kordofan
A drone strike blamed on the Rapid Support Forces hit the courthouse in Umm Ruwaba, an army-held town in North Kordofan, around midday on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, as residents queued outside for legal and administrative business. Sudan's Emergency Lawyers Committee said 12 civilians were killed and 20 wounded, including six lawyers and a judicial-authority employee; Sudan Tribune and Darfur24 put the toll at 13 killed and 22 wounded. Emergency Lawyers spokesman Mohamed Salah called the strike a serious violation of international humanitarian law that endangers judicial staff and undermines access to justice. Most of the wounded were taken to Umm Ruwaba Hospital. An RSF military official declined to substantively address the accusation. North Kordofan recorded the highest number of drone attacks of any Sudanese state in 2026 — at least 141 by July 8.
