RSF/SPLM-N Drone Strike Destroys Dilling Medical Warehouses — Six Injured, Thousands Deprived of Medicines

An armed drone strike by RSF/SPLM-N forces on Dilling, South Kordofan, struck and completely destroyed the city's medical supply warehouses on Wednesday evening (May 20–21, 2026), injuring at least six people and depriving thousands of patients across the city of medicines and medical supplies. The attack came amid the ongoing cycle of SAF siege breaks and RSF-SPLM-N counterattacks in South Kordofan: SAF broke the Dilling siege for a third time on May 19–20, recapturing Al-Takma and reopening the Dilling–Kadugli road, only for RSF-SPLM-N forces to launch a retaliatory strike on the city's healthcare infrastructure within 24–48 hours. The targeting of medical warehouses is consistent with the RSF and SPLM-N's documented pattern of attacking healthcare infrastructure and humanitarian supply chains to impose famine-pressure on SAF-controlled towns. Dilling, South Kordofan's second-largest city, was already functioning under severe medical shortages during the RSF-SPLM-N siege cycle; the destruction of the warehouses eliminates the city's primary medical supply buffer at a time when the area is formally at IPC Phase 5 catastrophic famine risk (Kadugli) and near-famine conditions (Dilling). The medical warehouses attack also occurred just days after the first supply convoy in four months reached Kadugli (May 20), highlighting the destructive counter-cycle: SAF logistics access gains are immediately targeted by RSF-SPLM-N to prevent consolidation. Sudan Doctors Network, which has repeatedly warned of an El Fasher-scale healthcare catastrophe in South Kordofan, condemned the attack and called for emergency medical resupply. The UN's OHCHR high-alert statement from May 11 documented at least 12 attacks on health facilities in the January–April 2026 period; this strike brings the total higher. The attack exemplifies why the Treaty of Jeddah's civilian protection provisions — signed by both parties just two days prior — have been met with deep skepticism by humanitarian organizations.
