SAF Drone Strike Kills Senior RSF-Allied Paramilitary Commander in Central Darfur
A Sudanese Armed Forces drone strike killed Hamid Ali Abubakar, commander-in-chief of the RSF-aligned Sudanese Awakening Revolutionary Council (RAC) and a reported security adviser to RSF Commander Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), at Damrat al-Firdous in Central Darfur. The strike targeted a meeting of RSF and allied paramilitary commanders. Abubakar was among the most senior RSF-affiliated faction commanders in Darfur, and his killing constitutes one of the SAF's highest-value strike outcomes in the Central Darfur theater. The RAC is one of several armed factions that formalized military cooperation with the RSF during the civil war, contributing fighters and intelligence in Central and South Darfur. SAF's precision drone campaign targeting RSF and allied leadership has intensified since late 2025, exploiting SAF air superiority over RSF-held areas. The strike reflects continued SAF efforts to degrade RSF command cohesion across the broader Darfur theater, where RSF forces have been consolidating following the October 2025 fall of El Fasher.
