Marcos warns of 'new phase in escalation' in West Philippine Sea after blocked medevac

Speaking to reporters in Singapore on Oct 11, President Marcos said China's blocking of the Oct 8 medical evacuation at Ayungin Shoal marked a new phase of escalation. He said Manila rejects China's growing demands for permission to operate in disputed waters and does not seek Beijing's consent for resupply missions. He said the incident would be raised with Beijing and could affect Code of Conduct talks.
