China Coast Guard water-cannons PCG ship, delays medevac of PH Navy sailor at Ayungin Shoal by ~10 hours

On Oct 8, as BRP Cabra approached Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal to evacuate a sick Philippine Navy serviceman from BRP Sierra Madre, CCG 5306 used a water cannon (no hit) and shadowed it. China rejected the proposed rendezvous point; BRP Cabra was held ~13 nm north for hours. The patient was transferred around 3:15 p.m. and stabilized aboard before 5 p.m. PCG Commandant Adm. Ronnie Gil Gavan condemned the interference. Two more CCG vessels, a maritime militia vessel and a PLA Navy warship were monitored.
