| Sinaloa Split

The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) daily report for Friday, August 21, 2026 — the first day of Rocha Moya's resumed governorship — recorded eight total intentional-homicide and femicide victims across five municipalities, four of them beyond the Angostura clash and the Culiacán/Navolato/Mazatlán killings already logged. In Culiacán's Infonavit Humaya neighborhood, two more people were found dead, separate from the Miguel Alemán shooting. In Escuinapa, a woman died in hospital from injuries sustained in a violent incident in the Centro neighborhood, classified as a femicide. In Ahome, another woman was found dead in the Higuera de Zaragoza township, also classified as a femicide. The FGE opened four homicide and two femicide investigation files in total for the day; no arrests were reported in any of the four additional cases.
