Day 758: Five More Bodies Found Across Mazatlán in Single Day, Capping Region's Most Violent August

| Sinaloa Split

The FGE opened five additional homicide investigation files for Mazatlán on Thursday, August 20, 2026, on top of the Culiacán case — the deadliest single day of the month for the port. A man, Manuel, approximately 27, was shot repeatedly by gunmen in a gray sedan at his home on Calle de las Cofradías in the Urbi Villas del Real subdivision and died at the scene. A body was found on the Culiacán–Mazatlán highway; others were located in the María Elena and Benito Juárez neighborhoods, and a fifth victim died of gunshot wounds sustained inside a residential property on Avenida Del Delfín. Five vehicle-theft reports and three forced-disappearance complaints were also filed the same day. August 2026 has become Mazatlán's most violent month on record, with roughly 40 homicides in the port so far.
