Day 695 — Government Formally Files Dual-Nationality Ban for President, Governors, CDMX Mayor

Presidential Legal Advisor Luisa María Alcalde presented the details: dual nationals must renounce their other citizenship before registering as a candidate, presidential aspirants must show at least 20 years of residency in Mexico, and officeholders would be barred from acquiring another nationality or invoking foreign diplomatic protection while in office, with constitutional sanctions for violations.
