Day 687 — Sheinbaum Unveils 147B-Peso PODECOBI Industrial Pole in Zapotlán, Hidalgo

On August 19, 2026 (Day 687, Wednesday), President Sheinbaum and Hidalgo Governor Julio Menchaca presented the PODECOBI (Polo de Desarrollo Económico para el Bienestar) industrial pole in Zapotlán: 130 projects worth 147 billion pesos across 910 hectares, projected to create 191,000 jobs in manufacturing, logistics, pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Lead investors include DEWA Capital (10.1 billion pesos for an industrial complex, ~5,100 jobs in its initial phase) and Cooperativa Cruz Azul (6.5 billion pesos to expand cement production and modernize hospital infrastructure in nearby Tula, ~14,200 jobs).
