Senate Dissolves INAI, COFECE, IFT and Four Other Autonomous Agencies

The Morena-controlled Senate approved the dissolution of seven autonomous constitutional entities including INAI (transparency watchdog), COFECE (competition regulator), IFT (telecom regulator), and CONEVAL (poverty measurement). Their functions were absorbed by executive branch ministries. Critics called it a major blow to accountability; the reform was published in the Official Gazette on December 20, 2024.
