Steel Across America Tour Brings WTC Steel Beam to Utah State Capitol

| 9/11

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation's Steel Across America tour made its 25th stop at the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake City, displaying a 21-foot, 16,900-pound steel beam recovered from the South Tower of the World Trade Center. The ceremony, hosted by retired FDNY Lieutenant and Tunnel to Towers board member Jack Kielty, opened with a Color Guard and Pipes and Drums procession and featured retired FDNY firefighters who responded to Ground Zero on 9/11. Stephen Siller Jr., son of fallen FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller, presented a commemorative steel flag — a custom tribute incorporating original World Trade Center steel — to local law enforcement. The tour, which launched in Lower Manhattan on May 2, 2026, is traveling more than 10,500 miles across 21 states and Washington, D.C., with 35+ stops, before returning the beam to Ground Zero for the 25th anniversary on September 11, 2026.
