Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Captured in Pakistan

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM), the principal architect of the 9/11 attacks and al-Qaeda's Head of External Operations, is captured in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, in a joint CIA-ISI operation. KSM is subsequently transferred to CIA black sites and subjected to waterboarding 183 times before being transferred to Guantanamo Bay in 2006. He is charged with the murders of the 2,976 victims of the 9/11 attacks and remains at Guantanamo awaiting military commission proceedings.
