FAMa Extends 'Operation Dougoukoloko' with Strikes on Militant Positions at Tessalit and Koutiala

| Sahel Insurgency

Mali's Armed Forces (FAMa) General Staff announced on August 28, 2026 that it conducted a new series of targeted strikes under 'Operation Dougoukoloko' — the same operation that hit JNIM logistics around Kidal and Abeibara in early August — this time against gathering points on the periphery of Tessalit (Kidal Region, far north) and against armed-group regroupment zones near Koutiala (Sikasso Region, south). The General Staff said intelligence had located several fighter groupings, including some armed-group leaders, and that the Tessalit strikes destroyed weapons stocks, armed vehicles, and fuel reserves used to sustain militant mobility. No independent casualty figures or corroboration beyond the military communiqué were available.
