FLA Destroys Africa Corps Camp with FPV Drones in Kidal Region
The Front de Libération de l'Azawad (FLA) conducted an FPV kamikaze drone strike that destroyed a Russian Africa Corps camp in the Kidal region of northern Mali. The attack, reported by Charter97 and corroborated by TRAC terrorism tracking, targeted a camp occupied by Russian personnel in the Amachach/Tessalit area and is consistent with the FLA's sustained drone campaign that began in early 2026. The FLA also previously struck a TB2 drone control center in Tessalit. This represents the continuation of the Tuareg separatist coalition's asymmetric campaign against the FAMa/Africa Corps presence in the Kidal theater, following the fall of Kidal to the FAMa-Africa Corps column in November 2023. The FLA has used commercially available FPV quadcopters and loitering munitions to target hard-to-access Africa Corps positions across the Tessalit-Kidal corridor, adapting tactics similar to those used in other modern conflicts.
