JNIM Kills 14+ Soldiers in Attack on Bagade Military Post, Burkina Faso

JNIM (al-Qaeda-affiliated Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin) carried out an assault on a military post in Bagade, northern Burkina Faso, killing at least 14 soldiers with some reports indicating nearly 20 security force members (including VDP militia) were killed. JNIM released video footage showing approximately 15 dead soldiers, some reportedly burned. Security officials speaking anonymously to AFP confirmed the attack and stated a junta counterattack subsequently neutralized a number of attackers. The Burkinabè junta has not issued an official acknowledgment.
