Trump Signs Graham Russia-Iran Sanctions Act Into Law

President Trump signed the 'Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026' into law, after it passed the House 262-159 on Sep 16 following its 86-11 Senate passage in August. The law imposes new sanctions on Russian government officials, financial institutions, and the energy sector, and gives the administration sweeping new authority to levy secondary sanctions and tariffs of up to 100% on foreign entities and countries — including China and India — that continue supporting Russia's military, energy, or financial sectors. It also extends the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 through 2031.
