Russia Kills 27 in 'Senseless' Strikes Before Ceasefire
Russian drone and missile attacks killed at least 27 people across Ukraine in the days immediately before the proposed Victory Day ceasefire period, drawing international condemnation. A strike hit Ukraine's Naftogaz gas facility, killing multiple workers, and strikes also hit Kharkiv and other populated areas. Ukrainian officials called the attacks 'senseless' given the proximity to the ceasefire period. Ukraine's own ceasefire (May 5–6) quickly collapsed as Russia launched 108 combat drones and three missiles overnight May 5–6, striking major cities including Kharkiv.
