EU Adopts 20th Sanctions Package Against Russia

| Russia

The European Union adopted its 20th package of economic and individual restrictive measures against Russia on April 23, targeting energy revenues, the military-industrial complex, trade, and financial services including cryptocurrency. The package included 120 individual listings — the biggest in two years — and targeted LNG terminal services, shadow fleet vessels, and for the first time deployed the EU's 'anti-circumvention' tool against Kyrgyzstan to close third-country sanctions evasion routes. The measures also banned maintenance services for LNG carriers at EU ports carrying Russian cargo. The EU's cumulative sanctions count against Russia surpassed 22,000 measures.
